Get a notification when your Deadlock match is found

Queues can take a few minutes, and when Deadlock finds your match while you're in another window, it doesn't flash in the taskbar. Frogtech Mod Loader can tell you instead: it flashes Deadlock in the taskbar, shows a Windows notification and, if you like, sends an alert to your phone.

Why you miss found matches

  • Deadlock has no accept button: a found match starts loading right away.
  • It doesn't flash in the taskbar or show a Windows notification.
  • Its sound plays in the background only when Settings, Audio, "Play sound in background" is on.

Turning on "Play sound in background" helps if you keep your headset on. For a sign you can see, and one on your phone, use the loader's match alerts below.

Step 1: let Deadlock write its log

The loader sees a found match in the game's log file, game/citadel/console.log. Deadlock only writes it with the -condebug launch option.

  1. 1
In Steam, right-click Deadlock and choose Properties.
  2. 2
In General, find Launch options and add -condebug (keep anything that's already there, separated by a space).
  3. 3
    Start Deadlock again.

Tip: The loader checks this for you. Until Deadlock's launch options have -condebug, Settings, Match alerts stays off and shows how to add it, with Copy -condebug and Check again buttons.

Step 2: turn on match alerts in the loader

  1. 1
Get Frogtech Mod Loader 0.8.1 or newer (older versions update themselves).
  2. 2
Open Settings. Under Match alerts, turn on "Alert me when a match is found". Below it, choose what an alert does: Flash Deadlock in the taskbar, Windows notification and Alert my phones.
  3. 3
Queue as usual and switch to another window. When a match is found, Deadlock flashes orange in the taskbar until you click it, and a "Match found" notification appears.

While Deadlock is the window in front, the loader doesn't flash or notify on the PC: you can see the match yourself. A linked phone still gets the alert, so you can queue and walk away. The loader has to be running, so leave "Start with Windows" on.

Step 3: get the alert on your phone

  1. 1
In the loader, open Settings, Match alerts and press Link my phone. A QR code appears.
  2. 2
Scan it with your phone's camera. It opens the match alerts page on mods.frogtech.dev.
  3. 3
Press Turn on match alerts and allow notifications. Press Send a test to check it works.
  • Android: use Chrome. No app to install.
  • iPhone: Safari only allows notifications from websites added to the Home Screen (iOS 16.4 or newer). Open the link, tap Share, Add to Home Screen, then open Match alerts from your Home Screen and turn it on there. We haven't been able to test this on an iPhone yet.

You can link up to five phones. Unlink phones in the loader stops alerts on all of them.

Alerts not showing?

  • No flash and no notification: check Settings, Match alerts in the loader for the -condebug warning, and that the loader is running (frog icon in the tray).
  • Flash but no Windows notification: Windows hides notifications while Do Not Disturb is on, and it can turn that on by itself while you play a game. Check Settings, System, Notifications in Windows, and that notifications for Frogtech Mod Loader are allowed.
  • Nothing on the phone: press Send a test alert in the loader. If the test doesn't arrive, open the link on your phone again and turn alerts on; check that the browser may show notifications.
